An account of the resource
American writer, Pearl Sydenstricker Buck, was born in Pocahontas County in 1892. She won the Pulitzer Prize in 1932 for her book, "The Good Earth", and in 1938 she was the first American woman to be awarded the Nobel Prize.
Pearl S. Buck Collection contains the historical archive material owned by the Pearl S. Buck Birthplace Foundation and housed at the Birthplace Museum in Hillsboro, West Virginia.
The Pearl S. Buck Archive Project has been made possible in part by a grant from the West Virginia Humanities Council. Additional funding and support comes from Preserving Pocahontas, the Marie Leist Foundation, the Greater Greenbrier Valley Community Foundation, the Pocahontas Co. Historical Society and the Pocahontas County Commission.
